WK 7: Playing the Angel Corn Fed |
![]() Playing the Angel After 25 years and an impressive 19 discs, the trio of Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andrew Fletcher otherwise known as Depeche Mode finally make their debut on this week's FML. Over the years, Depeche Mode embodied the classic VH1 show- "Behind the Music" episode with heroin addiction, a near brush with death due to a drug overdose and Gahan's arrest on felony drug charges. The band was almost destroyed until Gahan cleaned up his act, and like all archetypal stories they have been reborn with their latest CD and tour Playing the Angel. The Road to Here The southern quartet, Little Big Town, who has been criticized as a country version of Swedish pop stars ABBA, sheds the comparison with a successful sophomore album. The hot Little Big Town tune climbing up the eTracks is Boondocks from the new disc, "The Road to Here." Meanwhile prairie pretty Shannon Brown also debuts this week and rocks the virtues of small town life direct from an Iowa corn field in her hit eTrack, 'Corn Fed'. Testosterone Money For the first time in months the highest revenue performing artist are all men. In fact they are multiple men - we affectionately call them the money men: Nickelback, Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Gorillaz all take the top spots in revenue generation. If you were wise enough to buy Nickelback for your label you are almost $2 million richer. Also the NMC reported earlier in the week that you can catch an intimate performance and discussion with the band online. Click here to read the full story. Ode to Marilyn Next week is the week we can bask in Platinum status. If you've been wise enough to own an artist for eight consecutive weeks, and that artist stays on the eTrack charts for all 8 weeks, you earn another bonus of 10% of the artist's weekly revenue for those weeks. Plus keep an eye out for next week's Insider, there are rumblings that exciting news is on the way from the Commissioner. Stay tuned.
