Week 4: After The Gold Rush
Lucky labels rake in the dough
LOS ANGELES, CA Friday Jan.26.2007 /FantasyMusicLeague.com/ -- Week 4 of our FML winter season is here, and that means one thing: gold bonuses and extra revenue for your label!
If the artists you've signed to your roster have stayed on the eTracks charts for 4 weeks in a row, you've just generated an additional 10 percent in artist revenues for the week.
"My Love" star Justin Timberlake tops the gold bonus list, followed by Evanescence in second place. Snow Patrol, (who lost their drummer Jonny Quinn this week due to a broken arm) came in third, and The Fray, who has been a force to be reckoned with on our charts for some time now, is fourth in line for gold.
"Dreamgirls" star Beyonce Knowles rounds out our top 5, with Canadian export Nickelback, Jessica Simpson beau John Mayer, the unstoppable Red Hot Chili Peppers, R&B hotshot Akon, and pop diva Christina Aguilera filling out spots 6 through 10.
The total award amount for the week came out to a very respectable $33,160,000.
Now, on to this week's charts...The Peppers are at number 1 this week on Alternative, switching places with U2 who has now taken over the number 2 spot.
My Chemical Romance had a banner week - the emo band jumped up a whopping 16 spots, gained an 80% revenue increase, and landed at number 3. Panic! At The Disco enjoyed similar success - they snaged the number 4 position after coming in at 18 last week. And The Killers, who have just announced a massive U.S. tour, rose up 11 spots to take over number 5.
The Shins and Saosin have made their official debut on to the NMC Alternative charts this week as well, coming in at number 19 and 20, respectively.
The Fray still dominates the CHR charts, which has also seen major growth from singer/songwriter John Mayer, coming in at number 2 this week.
The All-American Rejects and Nelly Furtado have both made noteworthy progress - The Rejects rose up 8 spots since last week (earning a 90% revenue increase), and Furtado is still hanging in strong with a 7 place leap.
Rascal Flatts is back on top on our Country charts, with Rodney Atkins and Jason Aldean falling in line behind the hit duo. And although Carrie Underwood came in at number 8 this week, she's scored a huge revenue boost of 182%.
The Fray are still happy doing double-duty on both CHR and the Hot AC Charts, Justin Timberlake is feeling the love of his fans, coming in at number 2, and Nickelback, Evanescence and Snow Patrol round out the top 5.
JT keeps it coming on the Urban charts, and is still the genre's reigning champ. Beyonce's still enjoying rampant success with her hit song "Irreplaceable," and has remained at number 2 yet again.
Akon comes in at number 3 this week, followed by Beyonce beau Jay-Z, with Ludacris coming in at number 5, and Robin Thicke has made an NMC debut this week at number 19.
Trying to give your roster the most bang for the buck? Keep an eye on these unstoppable artists: My Chemical Romance will cost you only 2 million, Snow Patrol, Justin Timberlake and U2 carry a 4 million asking price, and Rodney Atkins and Jason Aldean are a steal at 1 million.
