Week 5: Look Over There!
Where to see your favorite FML artists
NEW YORK, NY Friday Aug.4.2006 /FantasyMusicLeague.com/ -- See the FML artists at Lollapalooza this weekend, if you can't travel in person, watch the webcam. Details are available on the FML News Stream. Additionally, many of the FML Artists have been nominated for MTV Video Awards to be aired at the end of this month. Why am I writing about these concerts and award programs? Well, if you study previous history, you may notice that when an artist performs in concert or is nominated for an award that they can re-enter the eTracks or see a bump of a few positions. Yea, it takes some work and educated guesses but that's definitely an enjoyable part of the game.
New to the eTracks
This week Corinne Bailey Rae is debuting in position twelve on the Hot AC eTracks. There's a detailed bio on her artist page along with a link to her official website with samples of her music. If you want to sign her to your label, don't miss the Monday 12 noon (pt) deadline.
Top Revenue Earners
Now that everyone has finished partying over the vast number of Gold Bonus Awards we issued last week. It's time get back to the job of managing your label. Nelly Furtado re-entered at position two on both the Hot AC and Urban eTracks, this along with remaining number one on the CHR eTracks earns labels who have her signed a base revenue of $6 million. Although he earned less in total than last week, our top revenue earner this week is again Gnarls Barkley with a base revenue if $8.2 million. Rounding out the top five are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rihanna and Panic! At The Disco all with base revenues of over $4 million.
This week we see 'Stevemoose' making a move on 'Amarpan' for the top position, and many others moving up and down in the standings. What's also interesting is that the top 30 positions in the Indie League are doing better than the top 20 positions in the Open League. Remember the prize pool is shared between the top 20 Open League players, along with the top player in each qualified mini league. If you're one of these Indie League players you should seriously consider registering your label for next season's Open League.
