image of David LawrenceA total of 40 artists shared $56,500,000 in Platinum Bonuses. Nickelback led the pack with a $3,230,000 bonus. James Blunt, Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige and Sean Paul rounded out the top 5. Nickeback also lead in Canada's Much Music Video Awards (MMVAs), Up for Best Video, Best Rock Video and the People's Choice Award for Best Canadian Group, eh. When thinking about dropping an artist, remember Platinum winners are the only bands still eligible for the Diamond bonuses awarded in week 13.

Lost Faith

During the last week Chris Brown was the most dropped artist, while Rihanna made the top of the most signed list. Watch for Rihanna on the MTV Movie Awards pre-show show June 8th, and listen to "Net Music Countdown with David Lawrence" on your local radio station this weekend as she performs "SOS" from her album "A Girl Like Me".

Jumpers

Red Hot Chili Peppers debuted on Hot AC and jumped 11 on Alt eTracks. Nick Lachey bounced up 10 spots on Hot AC and 6 spots on CHR this week. Looks like the RHCP CD leak online hasn't damaged their sales too much, nor kept them from climbing the eTracks. Maybe Flea's plea helped maintain the CDs strength.

The Goo Goo Dolls dropped 5 on Hot AC, Pink fell 5 there as well. T.I. dropped this week by 5 on CHR but still holds number 1 on the Urban eTracks.

Our number ones still remain the same across the charts, but all it takes is a good sex scandal or drug bust, a huge new release or a little luck for someone to knock them off the top. Will the Yeah Yeah Yeahs fan based video contest help them stay on top or hurt them? You still have time to shoot your video and submit it. Hey you could star in their new music video "Show Your Bones".
